  • WATCH FOR HAZARDS​​

  • MAKE A SAFETY KIT (Keep a kit in your car that has):

    • Kitty litter (for traction)​

    • Shovel

    • Snow Brush/Ice Scraper

    • Jumper Cables

    • Heavy Blanket(s)

    • Flashlight(s) & Batteries

    • Snacks & bottled water

    • Extra clothes (including gloves and hats)

  • SLOW DOWN & KEEP YOUR DISTANCE

    • Experts recommend a safe following distance of at least 8-10 seconds​

  • UNDERSTAND YOUR BRAKES

    • Anti-Lock Brakes: Push down hard--Don't let up even though it will feel & sound weird

    • Non-Antilock Brakes: Slowly apply a steady pressure--DO NOT pump brakes or slam to the floor

  • PREPARE YOUR VEHICLE

    • ​Clear your car of snow & ice before driving​​

    • Check tire pressure & tread

    • Replace worn wiper blades

    • Check battery & fluid levels

    • Make sure your gas tank is full
